eBay - What Were These People Thinking?!?

Many people would sell anything on eBay for a quick buck, and there’s no shortage of imagination! I think we’ve all heard stories about the weirdest things auctioned on eBay, and how people actually paid for them.

Here are some of the things I’ve found on eBay:

  • Haunted Agathos Spirit Ring- “Powerful Benevolent Guardians Between Djinn and Deities, they are the primary intermediary between man and the energy of the Universe!”. It goes for $300 if you can believe it!!! It just shows you that anybody can buy a cheap ring for 2 bucks, and sell it for 300 on eBay, saying it is haunted and somebody put a spell on it!

  • Lord Knight Dame Title - with GENUINE LEGAL DOCS! -maybe you can’t tell, but what this ad wants to sell is a Lord/Lady title, claiming that after you buy it from them you’ll be able to change all your IDs to include Lord/Lady next to your name. Why would you want that? They claim you can make people jealous, get into restaurants quicker, and overall impose more respect. Also, they do say that the title is not a British title, but a title of their own order. It goes for $30 plus $15 shipping, so $45. Why on Earth would I want to have Lady on my IDs and what benefit would that bring me. Humiliation? “So, how did you obtain that title? Do you have British descendents?” “No, I bought it on eBay”.

  • A Book About How To Become Invisible - if you want to walk unseen, become invisible, buy this book that will show you how you can do it. And once you’re invisible, go rob a bank. Heck, 100 banks. Become a billionaire. It goes for $25 ! Common, would you pass this opportunity for only 20 bucks?

  • Black Toilet Tissue - yes, you read it right. It sells for the amazing price of $38! It’s just like the normal tissue you can buy for under a buck, but it’s black, not white, so… What, did you think you’d get a one year supply for that price? No buddy. One roll. That’s it. It’s gourmet toilet tissue!

  • Alien Embryos In A Jar - directly from area 51. They go for $37, and the seller says they are meant to cure obesity. Simply put a jar of alien embryos in your fridge, and nobody will want to eat from there anymore. Or so he claims. I have to give it to him, it was the funniest one so far! He even has pictures of the alien jars! Yummy!

  • Rare Vampire Spell - for $45 and a bit of blood from you (it’s a vampire spell!), the seller will cast a spell and voila! You’ll have love in your life again! They don’t offer refunds, and if the spell doesn’t work, they will do it one more time free of charge, if it still doesn’t work…well, tough luck!

I read this article on shoemoney.com about somebody selling their Tweeter account on eBay for more than $1,000! The account had around 1000 contacts, but that’s nothing for the money, plus those contacts are surely going to leave when they realise they’ve been sold on eBay!

It’s amazing what people can sell/buy on eBay. Can you believe there are people that actually buy this things?

Conclusion

It’s a crazy world out there, but I guess the only conclusion I can come up with is that if you have a wild idea, it might just work, at least on eBay.

I’m not encouraging anybody to be a con artist and cheat people into buying something, that’s just wrong and those people should be banned from there. But I do believe there’s a lesson to be learned here. If you come up with something original, they might just buy it!

I hope you’ve enjoyed the post and found it funny, leave me a comment, maybe you’ve seen something weird on eBay too?

This kind of junk has been around on ebay for forever, so I guess there are people who buy them. The funniest for me was the love spell. How can you sell a love spell on eBay? To think there are people who believe in these things…

I am with you on being surprised about what is selling on ebay. Just last weekend my boyfriend and I were surfing around the site and found someone was selling a used Olive Garden breadstick bag for over $100. It had 17 bids! Sheer craziness.

How about the person who was trying to sell Lance Armstong’s Power Bar wrapper. What a great country we live in.

You said “used Olive Garden breadstick bag for over $100″?? Crazy. Yeah, every time I’m amazed at what people would buy. I guess it’s a good thing for entrepreneurs!

That’s another thing that sells, anything that celebrities have touched. They can’t even prove they even touched it though, right? That’s just crazy…

I went to the site you linked to, and the information they did have was not very convincing, I guess it’s good mind exercise though…

There have been a lot of warnings put out telling people not to buy this fake junk, yet some people still do. In my opinion, anyone stupid enough to buy this stuff doesn’t deserve their money anyway.
