I’ve recently posted a list of the wealthiest men alive, and number one was, of course, Warren Buffett.
I firmly believe that by watching, analyzing and following the example of other successful people you can improve your own life and eventually become successful as well. Just because they have so much to offer and we have a lot to learn from them.
So here’s a bit about the one that’s considered the wealthiest man on the planet:
Who He Is
One of the world greatest stock market investors, business man. His well-known company, Berkshire Hathaway, was one of his biggest moves and what made him a billionaire. He took Bill Gates place and became number 1 after Berkshire stock increased rapidly.
Warren Buffett was born in Omaha, Nebraska in August of 1930. His father was a stock broker. Benjamin Graham, his mentor, was teaching at Columbia Business School, which made Warren enroll to college to meet him.
At 22 years old married Susan Thompson and they had 3 kids. His wife died in 2004, and he remarried in 2007 (at the age of 76).
How He Got Rich
At 21 years old he started to work as a stockbroker, and also taught night clases at the University of Nebraska.
After being in a partenership for 4 years, he returned to Omaha and started his own investment partenership called Buffett Associates, Ltd.
At 25, he bought a home in Omaha for about $30,000, where he still lives today.
At 32, having several partnerships, Warren Buffett becomes a millionaire. The same year he discovers a textile manufacturing firm, Berkshire Hathaway, and starts buying shares.
After becoming chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, investing in private businesses and buying valuable stocks, at the age of 49, he’s included in the Forbes 400 wealthiest men list , but still only living on his $50,000 annual salary.
At 58, he starts buying Coca-Cola stocks, a smart investment.
2008, at 77 years old, he becomes the richest man in the world.
What’s So Special About Him
Now, in a funny note (since Warren Buffet likes humour), here’s some facts:
I hope you’ve enjoyed learning a bit about this genius that is Warren Buffett, the richest man in the world that still lives a humble life.

really a gr8 person
Hi!
With all his wealth, it’s amazing how Mr. Buffet lives. It is said that he lives simply, spending his nights at home watching TV. He also doesn’t have an office, writing a letter to all his presidents ONCE a year that contains their goals for that year.
We’re thinking of writing an article about him too ’cause he’s such a role model.
Thanks.
@ Ajay - thanks so much for stopping by! He is so inspiring, really a great person. I definitely will write more about him.
)
@Bong - thank you for commenting on my new blog. It’s such a pleasure! And yes, the way he lives his life is truly amazing, you don’t see that many people not taking advantage of their wealth and living a simple life like that! I will be reading your blog, but you can always drop a link here when you do publish your Warren Buffett article (or any other one for that matter
Warren Buffett is my investment hero. My “business” hero is Walt Disney. You would really like him as well. Disney is amazing in that he created one of the biggest entertainment giants of all time through the power of his mind.
I scoff (not in a mean way) at people who think they can’t achieve things. It’s profiles like these that show what we, as people, can do when we set our mind to something.
I also want to commend you on your accurate portrayal of Mr. Buffett. Lots of people mess up the facts and even though this is brief (put pinball machines in stores to make cash at one point!) it is pretty accurate.
Oh, and enable subscribing by email to your Feedburner account. I like getting the email version and I don’t like using an RSS reader. More accessiblity= more subscribers!
Cheers and Welcome to the Blogosphere. I will return!
Brad Spencer, I can’t thank you enough for your kind words. It’s people like you (and all the other commentators), that keep me motivated.
Walt Disney is definitely someone worth more than a post or two! (Also plan to expand more on Mr. Buffet).
I read about the pinball machines, and other “investments” he made as a kid, and that gives me an idea to write a post about what today’s wealthiest people did when they were young.
I appologize if you weren’t able to subscribe via email, I was sure it’s enabled…I’ll look into it, but would regret to lose you as a subscriber.
All the best!
Brad, thanks for pointing out the problem! I’ve changed the code, and now it seems to be working.
Plese let me know if you have any more trouble with it
Fair play to the man ,he sounds like a top honest bloke who’s passing on the same morals to his kids. I loved this line “I want to give my kids just enough so that they would feel that they could do anything, but not so much that they would feel like doing nothing”. Just about sums the guy up.
Good Read
Dnny
Danny, thanks for your comment. I have nothing but respect for Mr. Buffet, we can learn great lessons from him. He is filthy rich and still manages his money right, not spending it on things he doesn’t need.
